GIMP and Photoshop differ in their color management features in ways that matter to some users. Photoshop has support for 16-bit, 32-bit, and floating point images, support for the Pantone color matching system, or spot color and support for color models other than RGB(A) and greyscale, such as CMYK and CIE XYZ.
GIMP, like other open source applications, does not support Pantone numbers for spot colors because of legal issues; it has basic CMYK support. Photoshop features extensive gamma correction support.

gimp 中文资料太少， 关键是中间由于团队内部分歧，停止了几年开发，web特性没有体现出来。
@sfk 能否替代还是要看用PS的这帮用户。关键是GIMP还没有PS那么多的滤镜、特效。按我所见，多数情况替代应当没有多少问题，只是会增加一些应用上的麻烦。
ps的滤镜大部分可以用到gimp上。
gimp 确实是强大的开源图像处理软件，但从整体功能上来说，目前还是比不过 Photoshop，甚至还不如 Corel 的 Photo-paint，这不是指它没有某某滤镜、特效，那些东西跟本不重要，拿这些来说事儿也没什么意义，界面、操作与习惯就更没什么好说的，那完全是“仁者见仁，智者见智”。
它的缺点是根本性的，问题出在“色彩空间”上，它不支持 CMYK 色彩模型（好像基于 gimp 的 Seashore 支持，不过只能在 Mac 下运行），这就意味着： 如果你用 gimp 来处理一些只在屏幕上显示的的图片、做做 web 上用的图片，那可以，因为这些东西只使用 RGB 空间，而且它的某些功能就算差点，但对真正的高手来说，并不会有多大的问题；但当你需要处理图像并输出成纸张的东西（精确的打印与照排）时，如果一定要用它，那绝对是跟自己过不去了。
不过话说回来，拿 gimp 去与 photoshop 比本身就不公平，ps 有着成熟强大的商业支持，并且经过了长年的发展与升级，gimp 却非常的年轻。
P.S. photoshop 从 CS 开始，被 Adobe 搞得无比庞大，功能却没见什么大的长进。所以目前来说，只要你不做跟印刷相关的东东，小巧、开源的 gimp 已经基本够用，确实是不错的选择。
同意Daze！ gimp不支持cmyk的确是个硬伤，不过相信以后会加上的。 我用gimp做些照片的处理，不比宿舍里那个ps男差。
cmyk支持永远都不可能加上。

只要GIMP继续强大应该会有第三方的插件可供购买!
可供购买的第三方插件永远也只是终端消费者的个别行为。 说穿了，你认为谁会为了一个开源项目而额外支付费用给第三方？ 商业用途就不去多说了，支持永远是一座大山。单是个人用户，你觉得用PS还是GIMP更符合他们的利益呢？
在我看来Gimp已经是非常强悍了，没有必要刻意和PS比，应该坚持自己的发展路线和信仰。
