UMPlayer 其全称为 Universal Multimedia Player，它 fork 自 SMPlayer，是一款横跨多个平台的全能型影音播放器。

UMPlayer 不是简单的对 SMPlayer 进行再分发，而是包含一些独特的特性，相信这些特性会得到用户的认可和喜爱，比如：

    区别就是挂了个搜索字幕的功能吧。觉得smplayer挺好的……

    可惜新带的二个功能没什么用 youtube被墙 opensubtitles都是英文字幕, 没啥中文的

    @oomengnan: Matroska不就是MKV格式么？这个只是个前端，具体工作还是mplayer做。播放不了还是解码器问题吧。

    @hckjsnzf: smplayer是mplayer的前端，也就是为mplayer提供GUI。装smplayer还是依赖mplayer的。

    @firefoxmmx: mplayer放现在的rmvb有两种解码器可以选择，一个是内置或调用的ffrv40，即ffmpeg开源实现的real编码解码器。一个是nonfree的drvc.so，各发行版包含这个解码器的软件包名称可能不同，arch上叫codecs，64位的叫codecs64，在aur里。实在不行可以去mplayer网站上去下。你可以换换看另一个解码器。另外，也可换换视频输出，如xv、gl、gl2等。
