历经半年的开发，Ubuntu 8.10──代号“Intrepid Ibex”（无畏的北部高地山羊）──终于在今天正式发布了。与往次发布一样，本次发布也包括桌面版本和服务器版本，分别面向桌面终端用户和服务器终端用户。同时，包括 Kubuntu、Xubuntu、Edubuntu、UbuntuStudio 在内的衍生版也一同发布了。

Ubuntu 8.10 新特性

虽然在以往的文章中我们多次谈到了 Ubuntu 8.10 的新增特性，不过为了给大家一个全面的参考，我们将在此再作一个总结：

  • GNOME 2.24 - GNOME 桌面环境的最新版，包括具有标签页浏览支持的 Nautilus 文件管理器、更多存档格式支持的 File Roller 等程序的增强版本。
  • X.Org 7.4 - 带来了更好的输入硬件设备的热插拔支持。
  • Linux kernel 2.6.27 - 对硬件具有更好的支持。
  • 能够对私人目录进行加密处理，使个人的数据更加安全。
  • 客户会话支持。
  • Network Manager 0.7，包括 3G 支持。
  • “Last successful boot”恢复菜单。
  • DKMS 允许你自动重新编译内核驱动。
  • Samba 3.2。
  • PAM 授权框架。
  • Totem BBC 插件。
  • 支持制作 Live USB。
  • 新的 System Cleaner 系统清理工具。
  • 新的主题和壁纸。

如何升级

作为现有的 Ubuntu 用户，可以不用下载新的 8.10 ISO 映像而直接升级到新版本。具体步骤是：

  1. 点击“System/Administration/Software Sources”菜单；
  2. 选择“Updates”标签，并将“Show new distribution release”更改为“Normal releases”；
  3. 启动“System/Administration/Update Manager ”；
  4. 点击“Check”按钮选择新的更新；
  5. 如果有更新需要安装，则使用”Install Updates“按钮来安装；完成后，再次点击”Check“；
  6. 一个消息框将显示在屏幕上，点击”Upgrade“即可。

    这个可以完美升级的吧，如Toy说的网络升级方法，不用重装啊，原来装的软件，配置都在的啊
    我从7.04–>7.10–>8.04，感觉很好的

    看了ubuntu8.10的发行注记，发现发行的时候存在的问题很多啊。尤其是intel 9645会发生死锁；intel 3945如果在开机的时候启用无线开关，就不能重新激活；ath_pci在挂起后无法使用；JRE的安装配置存在问题；等等，感觉这些都是很重要的问题。

    我用的是Intel集成的845G显卡,出现了release notes里的Hangs with desktop effects on Intel 830MG and 845G video cards问题,还好我解决了,方法如下:
    Login Window –> “Options” (lower left corner) –> “Select Session” –> “Fail safe Terminal” –> Login with your name and password –> type “gconf-editor” –> Desktop->Goname->Application->windows_manager –> Replace all “/usr/bin/compiz” with “/usr/bin/metacity” –> reboot –> “Options” (lower left corner) –> “Select Session” –> “GNOME” –> Login, that’s ok!

    Bug比较多，硬盘安装无法分区，安装之后上不了网等等

    觉得它的网络配置的都快配不来了

    发现键盘、鼠标响应都变了……
    以前写的程序读取/dev/input/event1获取键盘鼠标的程序都用不了了……

    对ubuntu已经没感觉了，越来越臃肿，慢的要死，还是老老实实的用debian吧，期待5的到来，呵呵
