Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron) Alpha 1 发布

Ubuntu 开发社区已经公布了 Ubuntu 8.04 Alpha 1。Ubuntu 8.04 开发代号为 Hardy Heron，它是目前流行的 Linux 发行版 Ubuntu 的下一个版本。该版本预计 2008 年 4 月最终发布，并提供 LTS (长期支持) 服务，包括桌面端的 3 年和服务器端的 5 年。

Ubuntu 8.04 还处在早期的开发阶段，当前所推出的 Alpha 1 测试版除了更新既有的组件、程序、包等外，并没有添加什么本身的新特性，而且在改进上也仍然十分有限。

从安装 Ubuntu 8.04 Alpha 1 所提供的 ISO 映像来看，该版本包括 Linux 内核 2.6.22、X.org 7.3、GNOME 桌面环境 2.21.2。其中，X.org 7.3 增强了在无配置文件情况下的自动化配置能力。此外，在 Ubuntu 中默认包含的 GIMP 更新到了 2.4.2、Firefox 更新到了 2.0.0.10。

Ubuntu 8.04 Alpha 1 的桌面及服务器 CD 安装映像可用于 x86 及 AMD 64 架构，包括其衍生版本 Kubuntu、Edubuntu、Ubuntu JeOS、Xubuntu、Gobuntu、Ubuntu Studio。

    没有kde4... "The focus for 8.04 for the Kubuntu community will be stability. Following the stability portion of our goals, the Kubuntu developers plan on implementing a new strategy which will allow Kubuntu to catch-up with some of the functionality of Ubuntu. The default KDE will be version 3.5.x."
