oVirt: 基于 KVM 的虚拟机软件

Red Hat 在本周宣布了一个新的虚拟化平台管理软件──oVirt。oVirt 是基于 KVM 项目的开源软件，该虚拟机软件支持主流的 x86 硬件，并允许用户在其上运行 Linux 及 M$ Windows 操作系统。

oVirt 提供基于 Web 的虚拟机管理控制平台，无论是一台主机上的几个虚拟机，还是管理数百台主机上的成千个虚拟机，它皆能胜任。

目前，oVirt 所发布的最新版本为 0.91-1 beta，可从这里下载到适用于 i386 和 x86_64 架构的安装文件。值得注意的是，运行 oVirt 除了要求硬件具有虚拟化支持外，还应事先安装好 kvm、libvirt、virt-manager、virt-viewer 等软件。

    Toy兄，貌似这个软件不太符合"新的虚拟化平台"的定义：

    oVirt is:

    * A small host image that provides libvirt and hosts virtual machines
* A Web-based virtual machine management console

    libvirt is:

    * A toolkit to interact with the virtualization capabilities of recent versions of Linux (and other OSes).
* Free software available under the GNU Lesser General Public License.
* A long term stable C API
* A set of bindings for common languages
* A CIM provider for the DMTF virtualization schema

    似乎集成化管理工具的分量更多一些…… 还未使用，因为没有KVM，如有不对请指教!

    * The Xen hypervisor on Linux and Solaris hosts.
* The QEMU emulator
* The KVM Linux hypervisor
* The LXC Linux container system
* The OpenVZ Linux container system
* Storage on IDE/SCSI/USB disks, FibreChannel, LVM, iSCSI, NFS and filesystems

    依据说明，支持 Xen 和 QEMU 的也可以运行的 oVirt 的。
