有时候，在 Gentoo 系统中我们需要查询某个文件属于哪个包。有鉴于此，bones7456 兄从 apt-file（for Debian）获得灵感编写了 e-file 这个实用的脚本。

e-file

e-file 需要 curl，直接从 portagefilelist.de 获取数据。比如：我要查询 pdfinfo 属于哪个包，执行 e-file pdfinfo 后，返回如上图所示的结果。

e-file 可通过 Gentoo China Overlay 获取，或从这里下载。

你可以到gentoo的python中拷贝output模块到自己的模块路径，这样基本条件有了，只是没有应用到这个模块的应用罢了，gentoo的包管理方式基于python。这个模块是gentoo特有的

e-file 的目的是查未安装的文件属于哪个包，看看equery还行不行。

不知道 arch 里有没有这样的软件，我一直是用自己写的脚本通过镜像网站查询的。

arch每个服务器上都有全部包的文件列表
这个东西要事不能上网了怎么办，而apt-file是本地文件列表

当你不能上网的时候，往往也就没必要使用 e-file 了。
