Unity 成为 Ubuntu 11.04 默认操作界面

Mark Shuttleworth 宣布 Unity 将取代 GNOME Shell 成为 Ubuntu 11.04 的默认操作界面。

Unity 是由 Ubuntu 针对上网本发起的用户操作界面改良项目，与 GNOME 3.0 即将引入的 GNOME Shell 同样使用了 Clutter 做为基本图形框架。

Mark 认为 GNOME Shell 和 Unity 都是 GNOME 桌面环境的操作界面外壳，此举并不意味着要彻底抛弃 GNOME 桌面环境。同时，他还指出 Unity 和 GNOME Shell 的竞争关系对于 GNOME 的发展是有好处的。

    我更看好Gnome-shell，不过我没有见过unity，竞争才是发展最好的刺激

    这个没有必要吧，太混乱了，不如集中精力搞好GNOME一个桌面环境，多做一些精品软件。

    @fuzhijie: 我同意这个观点，我是这么分析这个事情的

    一、Unity是临时的决定，为Netbook版本更好的发展，改变用户的操作习惯为Gnome-shell做准备； 二、为Gnome-Shell的开发和完善赢得更多的时间。

    不知道大家怎么看？

    X window 上面加了一個外殼叫作GNOME, 現在要在這外殼上面再加一個外殼 叫GNOME Shell....或許是程式API的關係，所以要這樣一層又一層....只是，這樣子的效能會快到哪裡去嗎？

    我觉得说真的，有竞争选择多是好事，但是linux桌面环境太分散太多变，让很多开发者and/or用户远离linux。

    Gnome Shell 就它的界面和操作习惯我也不喜欢，性能低下，操作比现在 GNOME2.30 还麻烦。不如Global Menu+SuSe开始菜单+Compiz的一些效果+Gnome GO，如桌面平铺，标准化加入GNOME。

    Ubuntu 另立山头是正常的，希望 Unity 和 Ubuntu下一些子项目，如 NautilusElementary能够给Gnome注入新的血液。

    Unity 很不錯啊!10號那天試用了2個多小時.只是目前還不穩定,很容易當掉,我想等它正式推出時,我應該會安裝它來用.

    GNOME Shell 也很不錯,但我應該不會在我的PC or NB上裝它.

    其实用户一般适应了一种界面后，就习惯了，不太想使用其它类型的了

    用过很早的测试版后，就彻底把桌面转成kde4了……

    用Linux很久了，大概一年，一直在Linux下工作、娱乐，游戏少玩，当然在公司用的是win，这也没有办法的事情。上几个星期在Linux下wine成功运行魔兽世界，那个开心啊，呵呵，这个游戏是拷贝自朋友的硬盘的，而且讽刺的是他运行出错，运行不了，而我就顺利运行，呵呵，最后还是要重装他的win系统才能解决～～～

    @小柳丁: 不要字面理解“shell”的意思

    @H.M 鱼: Unity 并没有使用 webkit。你慢估计是因为你显卡不支持硬件加速（Gnome-Shell 和 Unity 都是用 OpenGL 的 mutter 插件干的）

    反而 gnome-shell 是用了相对缓慢的 FireFox（其 gjs 使用 xulrunner，要 seed 才是用相对快速的 webkit）

    说实话gnome的窗口管理器操作起来效率确实比较差，和Windows差不多，尤其是对那些不喜欢用鼠标的童鞋

    gnome 自己就是外壳 还要再来个壳。。然后再包一个ubuntu 壳。。linux 真热闹哈。。
