ATI Catalyst 10.7 Linux Driver

AMD 发布了本月的 ATI 系列显卡 Linux 平台驱动 Catalyst 10.7 。

该版本的主要亮点为：

  • 对 Ubuntu 10.04 的支持提高为生产级。
  • 对 openSUSE 11.3 的早期支持
  • 全面支持 ATI Eyefinity 多头显示技术。

PS: 由于本此更新添加了对 openSUSE 11.3 的支持，而 openSUSE 使用 X.org 7.5 / X server 1.8，因此先前由于 X 版本过高而无法使用 Catalyst 系列驱动的发行版（譬如 Fedora 13）或许有戏了，欢迎诸位朋友尝试。

    07年，我由于再也受不了ATI驱动的折磨，毅然把我的A卡换成了N卡。 在帮别人配电脑的时候，也从来不考虑A卡，因为太折磨人了。。

    不知各位怎么想的，早在10.6的时候，我在arch就能用上xorg1.8了，之需要在编译的时候加入一个头文件就OK。现在的驱动相比以前实在进步太大了，高清解码也已经完美，3D性能远远抛离开源驱动，2D驱动虽然10.6引入的新特性不完善，至少证明AMD在努力。

    简单试用了一下 2.6.34上已经不用任何补丁就可以运行，2.6.35-rc6也OK 2D加速的问题还是存在 Eyefinity没米测试。。。。

    提醒一下，一个本本/台式机的有效寿命三年左右，三年后即进入落后，淘汰阶段；正常情况2年后用2K RMB即可买到2年前的1W以上本本。假设ATI开源驱动的完善1-2年，这就意味着你的显卡最有生命力的2年却不能发挥它全部的性能：那你干脆去买二手好了

    @wangping: 顶，现在linux上就算买了AMD5870之类的也赶不上GF8800的性能，过两年赶得上了人家也该出AMD7870了。

    @junglevass: 除非ati把的商业驱动开放了，否则开源驱动永远慢半拍。目前的ati的开源驱动似乎连blender都运行不了，更不要说生产级别的软件了。

    貌似在 Linux 上的人都是搞编程或者系统运维的，这两类人对显卡要求不太高的哦。。

    说到作图，同一个跨平台软件，ATi 的 Linux 驱动跟 Windows 的比还是查很远吧。。

    已安裝上Fedora 13 , 但Firefox頁面內容會有時候全變成灰色... 除了這個問題基本上可用

    可否分享下？ Catalyst 10.7 在 Mobility HD 5470 Fedora 13 上使用默认安装成功，但是无法进入，Plymouth 之后屏幕就不断闪烁……

    加了 nomodeset, 用 dracut 重建了 initramfs ，清空 xorg.conf 之后，依然如此，悲剧中……

    我用的是RadeonHD 5750 , 就只是用默認安裝後 , 做了 aticonfig --initial -f 及 aticonfig --resolution=0,1680x1050 然後加上nomodeset就能使用了

    我想知道，以前在windows下面，对于老一点的显卡，新的驱动，反而不如旧驱动，不知道在linux下面是否也有这种情况？

    还是不行啊，看 Xorg.0.log 里所有模块都正常加载了但是貌似连接不到 VGA 适配器，检测不到输出设备…… aticonfig --initial -f 重新初始化后依然杯具……

    咳，ATI HD 之前的显卡完全不能用新驱动的，Win 和 Lin 都是……

    祝你早日能用吧... 以前我的2900GT在推出後六個月內都沒有一個版本的驅動能用 , 然後在Catalyst 10.1後的數個版本3D加速完全不能使用 , 其中一個版本2D加速也不能開啟 , 直到10.6才能開啟3D加速 ATi driver is absolute shit

    浏览了下论坛，发现似乎都是移动版本的显卡会出问题，其他的都还好，杯具……

    最终给朋友换 Ubuntu 10.04了……

    ATI 闭源驱动就是个杯具啊……
